MESSAGE FROM DEAN

In 1998, the Graduate School of Automotive Engineering at Kookmin University was established as the only government-accredited graduate school specializing in automotive engineering. It was recognized for its unparalleled capabilities in advanced education and R&D in the field of automotive engineering. Currently, 18 full-time professors serve the graduate school, outnumbering any other graduate schools in Korea in terms of expertise and experience in automotive engineering. Our research activities cover a wide spectrum of areas, including engines, chassis, body, electronics, eco-friendly powertrains, and future transportation systems. Approximately 100 graduate students actively pursue advanced degrees in our school each year, and our alumni—102 Ph.D.s and 840 M.S. graduates as of 2023—play important roles in leading industries and institutions. Their technical excellence and strong work ethics are highly recognized by their peers and colleagues. Since its inception, our school has made significant contributions to educating advanced technologies for the automotive industry. We continuously develop new curricula covering state-of-the-art automotive technologies and actively participate in incubating and conducting numerous industry and government-sponsored research projects. Recently, we have been focusing on promoting global collaboration with foreign institutes in both education and research. We have established academic exchange programs with universities in the US, China, Japan, Canada, Vietnam, and more. Additionally, we conduct cooperative research programs with universities and companies in various countries, including the US, China, Germany, and Australia. We remain dedicated to advancing automotive technologies using our excellent human resources, comprehensive facilities, and teaching and research capabilities.
